This weekend, I had the absolute pleasure of working with the amazing students from Frederick County Schools. In less than six hours, these dedicated young musicians tackled five pieces, and let me tell you- they were beyond prepared! Their teachers clearly set them up for success, and the students showed up ready to shine.
We kicked off with some energizing warm-ups, and even played a few rounds of "Four Corners," debating our favorite fast food spots and streaming platforms. The laughter and camaraderie set the tone for a day of music-making. Midway through, we even had a “snack attack” break, which brought us some hilarious moments and much-needed fuel.
But the music didn't stop there. At one point, the students asked me to sing, so I gave them a surprise snippet of “Slide Some Oil to Me” from The Wiz. The joy on their faces was priceless! By the end, we were all beaming with pride at how far they had come.
It was more than just a rehearsal-
it was a celebration of talent, teamwork, and passion. I’m so grateful for the opportunity, and I can’t wait to see what these students do next!
